Know Before You Go: An AWS Partner’s Guide to re:Invent 2025

Every December, Las Vegas becomes the heartbeat of the cloud world. This year, from December 1–5, AWS re: Invent 2025 will once again bring together engineers, founders, and FinOps practitioners to explore what’s next for cloud, AI, and efficiency.
For those of us who live and breathe cloud optimization, re: Invent is more than a technology conference. It is the one week when the entire ecosystem comes alive with announcements, deep-dive sessions, and conversations that remind us how fast the cloud world is evolving.
If you are heading to Vegas or tuning in virtually, here is my personal guide to making AWS re: Invent 2025 both productive and unforgettable.
Getting Started: Plan Your Week Early
The first rule of re: Invent is simple: preparation makes all the difference.
You can now reserve seats for your favorite sessions through the attendee portal, and the most popular ones fill up quickly. The AWS Events mobile app (available on iOS and Android) is the most important planning tool. It helps you manage your agenda, track shuttle routes between venues, and even find food spots near your next session.
If you are joining virtually, you can still be part of the action. Keynotes and Innovation Talks will be streamed live for free, so you will not miss any major product announcements or partner updates.
First Time at re: Invent? Here’s What I’ve Learned
My first Re: Invent felt like a marathon: miles of walking, back-to-back sessions, and networking from morning till midnight. Over the years, I have learned a few things that make the experience smoother:
- Wear comfortable shoes. You will easily walk more than 10 miles a day between The Venetian, Caesars Forum, and Mandalay Bay.
- Use the shuttles. They are free, frequent, and save a lot of time.
- Grab your certification voucher. Every in-person attendee gets 50% off any AWS Certification exam, valid online or at test centers.
- Stay powered up. I always carry a power bank, but Partner Expo booths have charging stations too, and they are great places to meet other builders.
- Keep hydrated. The Hydrate & Help stations around campus let you refill bottles while contributing to clean-water charities.
Make time for fun. Join the 5K Run, Bingo After Dark, the Sports Forum, or the iconic re: Play closing party.
The Partner Experience: Collaboration Meets Innovation
The AWS Partner Experience (PEX) has always been one of my favorite parts of re:Invent. It is where solution builders, ISVs, and FinOps professionals exchange ideas about automation, AI, and cost governance at scale.
A few sessions I am especially excited about this year:
- Ruba Borno’s Partner Advantage Keynote (Dec 3): Real stories of how partners are applying generative AI and agentic workflows to reimagine their businesses.
- Matt Garman’s CEO Keynote (Dec 2): Always a highlight, his sessions provide perspective on how AWS is redefining the future of cloud transformation.
Innovation Talks: Deep dives with AWS leaders focusing on AI, analytics, and emerging architectures that directly shape how we run FinOps at scale.
Learning in Every Format: Breakouts, Chalk Talks, and Labs
re:Invent’s biggest value lies in its sessions. Whatever your learning style, there is a format that fits you:
- Breakouts: Lecture-style sessions led by AWS experts, partners, and customers.
- Chalk Talks: Short presentations followed by in-depth Q&A with small groups.
- Workshops: Two-hour, hands-on sessions where you solve real-world problems using AWS services.
- Builder Labs: Guided exercises where you build solutions in your own AWS sandbox environment.
These formats make re: Invent one of the most engaging learning experiences in the cloud community.
